Introduction & game overview
What Rise of Kingdoms is, what sets it apart from other mobile strategy games, and how this guide is organized.
What Rise of Kingdoms is
Rise of Kingdoms (RoK) is a mobile 4X strategy game by Lilith Games: eXplore, eXpand, eXploit, eXterminate. The game revolves around city development, a system of historical Commanders, and large-scale multiplayer battles.
The feature that truly sets it apart
What separates RoK the most from competitors (Lords Mobile, Evony, Kingshot and similar titles) is that the entire game — your city, the open world map, and every battle — runs on one continuous, seamlessly zoomable map. There is no separate "attack screen": troops move, gather, and fight in real time on the same map you build your city on.
The other core systems
The rest of the game revolves around: 15 historical Civilizations (cosmetic/stat packages, not unique tech trees — chapter 3), a deep Commander system with dual-commander pairing and 74-point talent trees (chapters 8-10), the seasonal cross-server Kingdom vs. Kingdom (KvK) warfare (chapter 16), and a Kingdom Titles political layer (King, Queen, Duke, Justice, etc.) run by the top players of each kingdom (chapter 7).
Quick tips
- There's no separate "battle screen": everything happens on the main map, including gathering and combat.
- Civilizations aren't factions with their own buildings: they only grant a starting commander, a special unit and passive bonuses.
- KvK is seasonal content, not permanent: it arrives months after your kingdom's founding.
